Event: Copper Pig BBQ
Details: This past Saturday’s Ride to Brunswick Georgia and designation stop was the Copper Pig & Smokehouse Restaurant. We met at the Kangaroo Station (Beaver St. and Chaffee Rd.) OP Hog Chapter had 16 motorcycles and 20 riders very nice number. My Tail Gunner was John Garrow and our photographer was Kathrin Garrow. Meeting time was 9 am riders meeting 9:15 and KSU 9:30 and yes we were prompt at leaving so prompt that Kathrin was still putting her riding jacket when we started out. We had to detour on the beginning of the route. I was going through the route and general riders brief , James Gardner said there was a crane on US 90, a small detour added to brief and then we would be back on our scheduled route. The ride through the country on Florida county road 121 was 2 a lane road with curves and hills. We made our scheduled rest stop in Folkston then on to another winding county in Georgia CR 252. We were then on U.S 17/25 there was a challenge in Brunswick. It was the Intercoastal bridge looking at it from a distance the appearance was thin a thin ribbon of concrete and cables, quite high, and very long, it was a a 2 lane bridge so to be on the safe side we stayed in the left lane, there were no issues. Finally we turned off on Golden Isles Parkway which led us to our final destination the Copper Pig & Smokehouse restaurant. We all had a good meal and fun conversation. Tom Blakeman decided he was going to ride the mechanical Pig and yes Tom rode and was bucked off. TJ Liter was met by his nephew Billy his wife Terri and 2 children and they also joined us for lunch.
Again I want to thank all that went on the ride. It was great having several RC’s in the group and with a group that size the more RC’s the better. Special thanks to my TG John good job thanks. I enjoyed it and being in my electric jacket and chaps made it a very comfortable ride.
