Event:  Ride to Island Life Grill
Details: A slow start. RC and TG had to solicit riders from inside the dealership. Picked up a couple members and one guest. Those commenting on the temperature were reminded of the alcohol free ride policy that includes no “whine”(ing);

Great ride through the back roads of Clay county culminating at the Island Life Grill with Caribbean atmosphere and great food!

Chapter showed well. Our single guest impressed with our pre ride brief and commitment to safe group riding. His chapter does not do pre rides nor briefs and wanted a copy of our brief to influence his chapter to adopt similar commitment.

Well Done to Dr. D for providing the brief standards and group riding pamphlet when serving as Head Road Captain. The legacy continues with Brian and seems expanding to other chapters as our guests (now 2 that I know of) have commented on how this chapter rides.

Great job everyone! Let’s keep up the great work!

Event:  Ride to Matanzas Innlet, St. Augustine
Details:  Our ride to Matanzas Innlet on Sunday, November 17th, started with a bit of rough weather.  Deb tried to convince me to cancel based on the heavy rain we woke up to, but I decided to don the rain gear and head out anyways.  The rain stopped by the time I hit 95 and six bikes showed up at our departure point.  The ride was uneventful and we had a great lunch outside on the deck overlooking the inlet.  A bit of a nature challenge as there were many birds who thought they needed lunch more than some of the diners.  Ran into a few miles of rain on the way home, but not much.  Overall it was a great day to be out on the bikes.  Road Captain:  Ron Reynolds,  Tail Gunner:  Tom Braddy.

Destination:  Culhanes Irish Pub, Atlantic Beach

Details:  “It was a beautiful day for a ride and 14 people (12 members, 2 guests) rode in sunshine and mid-60’s weather for a trip to Atlantic Beach.  While the pre-ride was one of the easiest I have had in quite a few rides, the actual ride was a lot more interesting!  It started early when a couple riders got left behind at a red light on US17; they started to catch up just in time to get stuck by another red light…  The group did a great job adjusting to the ups and downs however, and even though we ran into a number of obstacles (road closures, construction, pedestrians, and bicyclists to name a few) we all made it to Culhane’s Irish Pub together.  Thanks to everyone who came along for the ride and kept everyone safe.”    Road Captain:  Brian Malek;  Tail Gunner:  George Howard  Photographer:  Kathryn Garrow

Date:  Saturday, March 30
Destination:  Sandollar Restaurant

Details:  We had a total of 19 members on 16 bikes start out on the Sandollar ride and had two join us at the restaurant for lunch.  The day started at the OP dealership at 9:00 in the upper 40s with a rider’s meeting at 9:30.  We headed out west to 301, turned north and ended up at the coast 2.5 hours and 85 miles later.  The ride went well with no issues until we got split up on Heckscher at 295.  We ended up with a couple of cars in between us, however this wasn’t much of an impact since it was a straight shot to the restaurant from there.  We sat on the deck for lunch watching the maritime trade come and go.  The temperature ended up in the upper 70s and this was a great way to end the ride.  Road Captain:  Ron Reynolds;  Tail Gunner:  Ron McCain  Photographer:  Kathryn Garrow

Details:  7 bikes, 1 passenger, 1 guest.  This was a “Rain or Shine” ride that was not subject to cancellation based on the weather.  Skies were mostly clear, but temperatures in the upper 40s meant this was ride for the hard core motorcycle rider.  80 miles to Fargo with the temps dropping as we went north.  Some cold fingers but no serious damage.  Stopped at the Suwanee River Visitor’s Center in Fargo for a brief visit before heading across the highway to the Cafe, where the modest country buffet satisfied and warmed the hardy band of HOGs.  Road Captain:  DrD;  Tail Gunner:  Brian Brannon;  Photographers: Kathryn Garrow and DrD
