Destination: Corky Bells at Gator Landing, Palatka
Details: Post-meeting ride. 16 bikes, 2 passengers. Hot, but not excessively so. 60 mile ride, much of which was along the St. Johns River (SR 13). Got lucky at Corky Bells and were seated in the conference room.

Destination: Sliders, Fernandina Beach
Details: 10 bikes, 1 passenger. We started at McDonalds in Oak Leaf Plantation/Argyle Forest and took the long way to Fernandina Beach--about 93 miles. A nice ride on northeast Florida backroads. Low 90s by the end of the ride, upper 90s during return to Orange Park. Nice view of the ocean at Sliders (except Ruth who could only see a wall).

Destination: Tallahassee, FL
Details: 8 members of OPHOG rode with JaxHog riders to deliver the "Nation of Patriots" United States Flag to the Tallahassee HOG chapter. The flag, which began its HOG-escorted journey in Miliwaukee in May, will travel to the lower 48 states before returning to Milwaukee and a permanent home in the Harley Davidson Museum.

Details: 2700 miles through eight states. 12 OPHOG members on seven bikes and one car. Highlight depends on who you ask, but most would include West Virginia and the Blue Ridge Parkway (469 miles) in Virginia and NC.

Destination: The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville
Details: 12 bikes, 4 passengers, several cars. Short ride from Wachovia parking lot Orange Park to Baseball grounds. All you can eat burgers and dogs for 1 hour. (Quanity over quality.) HOT! but everyone found a seat in the shade. Suns lost to Mobile Bay Bears in extra innings.

Details: 5 bikes, 1 passenger. Sunny skies and temps reaching low-mid 90s. Group eventually joined St. Augustine chapter riders in Starke for final leg to Ichnetuckee. Ski & Ga stayed for the tubing, others returned and stopped in Alachua for lunch.

Destination: JJ Fins in Tavares
Details: 8 bikes, 1 passenger. 111 miles one way. It's June and turning hot. Low 90s and humid. Some showers on the return, but a good ride. Always nice to ride through the Ocala Forest. JJ Fins is a biker-friendly seafood and more restaurant that pleased everyone on the ride.

Details: 4 bikes, 1 passenger. 135 miles. Florida spring weather continued to co-operate. Beautiful weather. For all but the road captain, many of the roads on this ride were new. Great route. Good food at Crackers, too.

Details: 17 bikes, 3 passengers. 117 miles. Another great day for a ride. This one started about noon, which seemed to work well for a lot of riders. Indirect route went through Folkston and then (kudos to Ruth and Steve Lee) a Georgia backroad with some nice curves to US 17 and then to Brunswick.

Details: 11 bikes, 3 passengers (3 guests). 106 miles. Beautiful day (72° - 82°.) 8:30 start under blue skies. Some 4 lane, some 2 lane, some State Park, some ocean view: A little something for everyone. As usual, a great Sunday Brunch at Aunt Catfish's in Port Orange (south of Daytona Beach). No one went away hungry and unofficiially this was 28 thumbs up brunch.

Details: 9 bikes, 2 passengers, 72 miles one way. Ahhh Spring. 70s warming to low 80s. Dogwoods and azaleas in bloom. What a great day for a ride. Fleetwood Diner (formerly Floyds Diner) is a traditional diner, but the weather demanded that we sit outside under the awning. Most riders opted for breakfast fare, with Hippie Hash being a a popular side item.

Silly String was a big hit; the kids enjoyed it too. Enjoyed seeing long-time residents and meeting the new ones. As always, a rewarding trip for all the HOGs.

Details: 9 bikes, 1 passenger, 1 car. Beautiful blue skies, no wind and 68-70°. Couldn't ask for better riding weather. About 52 miles one way. For veteran Shack-by-the-Trackers, this is always a treat. For newbies, the surprise is always the amount of food on the plate. Great barbeque.

Destination: Ponce Inlet Lighthouse
Details: 6 bikes, 2 passengers. Best weather in weeks, even with 20-30 mph winds. Blue skies and mid-60s most of the day. About 105 miles one way. Three hour ride. A little four lane, a little two lane, a little forest and a little oceanside. Something for everyone. Went to the Lighthouse Landing for lunch but group decided to browse Daytona for motorcycle parts and accessories instead of climbing 208 stairs in the lighthouse.

Destination: Hoggetown Medieval Faire, Gainesville
Details: 2 bikes, 2 passengers. 40° at 8:30 meeting time, but warmed to low 50s later in the day. 60 miles one-way. This annual event in Gainesville draws a big crowd every year. Jousting, damsels, knights and assorted jesters and court musicians and revelers. Oh, and special parking at the front gate for motorcyles. A good time.

Details: 15 bikes, 3 passengers. Finally, some decent weather. Upper 60s/low 70s, a little windy, but after two weeks in a deep freeze this was a welcome relief. Good turnout on short notice. Some new bikes and some new riders. Short ride of about 50 miles, but the group rode well together and we managed to make most of the traffic lights without getting split up. Ate outside on Georgie's patio.

Details: 11 bikes, 1 passenger, 2 guests. Watched a big, orange sun rise through low clouds over a beautiful Atlantic Ocean. Everyone should witness such a sight once a year. Then rode south on A1A along the ocean to St. Augustine for breakfast at the Village Inn. Another good ride.

POW Ride Home 625 miles round trip, including various event excursions
Details: 9 bikes, 2 passengers, 1 guest. This trip was made to Americus/Andersonville, GA, to honor 175 former Prisoners of War who gathered at the Andersonville POW Museum and Historic Site. The event was superbly organized and run by Rolling Thunder. Very moving. A great opportunity to say Thank You and Welcome Home to American Heroes.

9/11 Remembrance Ride
Details: 36 bikes wound their way through Clay County proudly sporting dozens of American flags to show that OPHOG remembers the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks in New York City, Washington, D.C. and the tragic end of Flight 93 in Pennsylvania. The ride, which began at 7 p.m., was the chapter's first night ride and though not without some navigational issues all riders ended up at Buffalos in Orange Park for dinner. Several non-HOG riders rode as guests of the club.

Destination: Okefenokee Swamp, approximately 84 miles, one way
Details: 8 bikes, 2 passengers, 1 car. A nice ride that included some backroads new to most of the riders. Several good comments on the route. Blue skies/partly cloudy 84-86°. All but one of the riders opted to take a guided boat tour through the swamp. Peaceful ride, though everyone had hoped to see some gators.

Unique, all-you-can-eat, cook-it-yourself pancake restaurant at the Park. Park itself is interesting slice of "Old Florida", with lots to do.

Details: 7 bikes, 1 passenger. Nice day for a ride. Overcast, but no rain. Good barbeque and interesting restaurant.

Destination: The Yearling Restaurant, Cross Creek/Hawthorne, FL, approximately 78 miles, one way.
Details: 12 bikes, 4 passengers. Great day. Not short-sleeve weather yet, but 60-65° for the ride and sunny skies. The Yearling has an interesting history and good food, though not everyone wanted to try the frog legs and gator tail.

Destination: Stumpknockers, Dunellon, FL, approximately 145 miles, one way.
Details: 14 bikes, 4 passengers. 1 car. Another gorgeous Florida day. 65° going - 85° return. A longer ride than ususal, but really nice views of Florida horse country and oak-lined country roads. Stumpknockers food seemed to please everyone.

Details: 7 bikes. 3 passengers. 1 car. Perfect Florida weather. 60° going - 80° return. Cloudless skies. Short but nice ride. Interesting self-guided tour of the Winery and tasting. Lunch followed at Georgies Diner.

Details: 15 bikes. 5 passengers. 1 car. Brisk 50° gorgeous blue skies. Pleasant back roads rides and lots to do in Daytona.

Destination: Shriner's Chili Cook-Off, Metro Park Jacksonville, approximately 15 miles, one way.
Details: 13 bikes. Cool (again!) but blue skies. 15 varieties of chili and all for a good cause--Shriners' Children's Hospitals. Several suggestions to make this an annual chapter ride.

Monthly Meeting at Fleet Reserve. Another good turnout on a cool Florida day. Heard from HD regional rep. Chapter voted to adopt Seamark Ranch children's home in Clay County as its primary charity.

Details: 15 bikes. Another "cool" morning, 40° at 9:30 a.m. but beautiful blue skies. Met several guests at the Pig Stand.

Destination: Floyds Diner, High Springs, FL, approximately 85 miles, one way.
Details: 5 bikes, 1 passenger, 40° at 9:30 a.m. Cloudless blue skies. Nice country roads. Got to Floyd's Diner to discover it closed, though with a sign promising to reopen. Adapted, overcame and had lunch at Bev's Burger Cafe in High Springs. Good homemade burgers. Nice return ride. 57°

Destination: Ken's Barbeque, Lake City, FL, approximately 66 miles, one way.
Details: 21 bikes, 4 passengers, 60°. Added one bike in Lake Butler. Met members of Tallhassee Wild Hogs in Lake City for lunch. This was a good chance for the two groups to mix and meet.
